WINTER 2011
The fairgrounds are busy as usual this winter. With our new lights, the outdoor arena is really lit up for ice skating and broomball. There is lots of activity in the Heritage Arena again this year. Everyone is pleased it is open again after being closed so new insulation and lights could be installed.
We had a busy fall attending our conventions. In September, we went to Sundance for the Wyoming Association of Fairs convention. We traveled to Missoula, Montana in November for the Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs convention. Right after Thanksgiving, we attended the International Association of Fairs convention in Las Vegas where we won awards for our photos and Fair Brochure. Yvonne Robertson, the Fair Manager, received a $500 scholarship to be used for Institute of Fair Management classes. It's at these conventions where we book all of our acts for the upcoming Fair, plus go to very informative workshops.
Our Teton County Fair Royalty had a float in the parade honoring the Capitol's Christmas tree in November. Our princesses braved the elements to welcome everyone to the Square. We were happy to have the Capitol Christmas tree stored at the fairgrounds while being boxed up for the cross-country trip to Washington, D.C.
We have a fun filled 2011 Teton County Fair planned. Our night events will be Pig Wrestling, Figure "8" Races, Lettuce in Concert, and two nights of Rodeo. We have changed things up a bit as far as our night events schedule, starting with a Rodeo on Wednesday night and ending on Sunday with the ever popular Figure "8" Races. All of the night events, except for the concert, will start at 7:00 p.m., giving families time to go to the Carnival after the shows.
Our Saturday night Rodeo will have added entertainment starting with the Chinook Winds Drill Team performing before the rodeo and a trick riding act during the Rodeo. This will be our "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" Rodeo and the extra dollar we charge will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Our champions will also be awarded their belt buckles that night. Our concert, Lettuce, is a fun, funk/jazz/hip-hop seven-person band. Check out their music and learn more about them at www.lettucefunk.com.

We have hired Flo the Clown, The Linfords (country western musicians), Street Beat (a theatrical drum and dance show), Kent Messmer (illusionist), T.C. Hatter (a mime comedy show), AgVentureland (an educational kids area), Kids Town and Reptile Adventures. Pony Rides, a Mechanical Bull and All Aboard Train will be back. Check out our website at www.tetoncountyfair.com for all the latest Fair info.
Again this year you will be able to pre-buy Carnival ride tickets at a discount. We will continue to sell tickets to our grandstand events on-line. All tickets will go on sale June 1. New this year, night event tickets will be discounted $3.00 if purchased before the day of the event. Check out our website for full details. Please join our fan club on Face Book to keep up to date on everything happening with the Teton County Fair. You can either join by going to www.facebook.com or clicking on the link on our website home page.
Thanks to the voters of Teton County, all of the grandstands on the south side of the arena will be covered this spring, using SPET money.
We welcome one new Fair Board member, Todd Wagner. Outgoing Fair Board member, Jake Nichols, will be missed, especially that great radio voice. Shyann Lucas is our Youth Liaison member this year. Many thanks to our outgoing 2010 Youth Liaison member, Frankie Boda, who is now attending the University of Wyoming. Our new liaisons for 2011 are Commissioner Paul Perry and Coucilman Bob Lenz. \
